ALTAR SERVERS:  The Altar Server Ministry involves the youth and adults of the parish in service to God and the community by assisting the priest during Mass and other services.  Adults serve only at 6:00 a.m. Masses.  Training for grades 4 and up is held every summer.

ALTAR SOCIETY:  The Altar Society is a group of generous women from the OLV Parish that provide the proper liturgical environment for an uplifting and prayerful celebration of the Sacraments.  It is made up of Parish women who are interested in doing the work of the Church.  They provide foods for families after funerals, maintain and clean the altar and the church weekly, hold fundraisers to buy special linens and vestments, provide flowers for special occasion Masses, serve as hostesses for parish potluck and receptions, and sew Baptism bibs.  All parish women are invited to join.  Regular meetings are once a month from September through May on the second Tuesday.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY:  Children's Liturgy is designed to help children experience meaningful liturgies through visual aide and dramatization.  Held during Sunday 11:30 a.m. Mass.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION:  The Eucharistic Ministers are a group of lay people who assist the priest at all weekend Masses, Holy Days and holidays to distribute the precious Body and Blood of Christ.  May take Communion to the sick/homebound, hospitals and nursing homes.  This is an appointed position but names can be submitted to the Pastor.  The Eucharistic Ministers work on a rotating schedule for weekend Masses and volunteer for duty for Holy Days and holiday Masses.

GREETERS/USHERS:  Greeters and ushers provide a sense of hospitality, welcome and order to the liturgical celebration.  As the initial point of contact for people entering the Church, the Usher/Greeter sets the tone for the liturgy with their welcoming smile and greeting.  Some of the primary responsibilities include:
1. Greeting, seating people in Church
2. Collection of Contributions
3. Advising Eucharistic Ministers if communion needs to be distributed to someone in their pew
4.Distributing bulletins after Mass
5. Volunteer to help at whichever Mass you attend

LECTORS:  Lectors are those parishioners who proclaim the Word to the congregation during the Mass.  Call the Rectory (575-4741) to sign up for training.

LEGION OF MARY:  The main purpose of the Legion of Mary is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members.  Members become instruments of the Holy Spirit through a balanced program of prayer and service.  Works include visitation of the sick or aged, assisting at weekly Mass at local nursing homes (3), prison ministry, and meeting the other spiritual needs of the parish community.  Legionaries are under the guidance of a spiritual director named by the pastor.  Members meet once a week every Tuesday (9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.) for prayer, planning and discussion.  The members do two hours of ministry each week furthering the work of the Legion.

MUSIC MINISTRY:  Provided by various choirs leading the assembly in song during the celebration of the Mass and other liturgical celebration.  Visit with choir members to see how you can share your musical talents and voice in order to praise God.  Rehearsals are held weekly or as needed.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION:  Religious education of parishioners in grades PreK4-12th grade geared to one's age/level.  SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION is held on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.  Includes preparation for sacraments and learning about our faith.  Volunteers are always welcome.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS:  Welcomes adults who wish to be baptized in the Catholic Faith, adults already baptized in other Christian religions who wish to follow the Catholic Faith and baptized adults who desire to receive the Eucharist or Confirmation in the Catholic Church.  Group meets every Monday evening at 7:00 p.m.  Parishioners wanting to be sponsors for participants are encouraged to attend.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY:  An international Catholic organization of lay persons who seek to help the poor, those in need with food, utility bills, rent, medical care or gas for cars, clothes, financial help or referring them to help elsewhere.  This is a hands on group which meets twice a month.  These are face to face discussions with the poor in order to determine assistance needs.  It is a very rewarding ministry.  You are not being asked for your monetary wealth but instead for your spiritual guidance and your gift of your time.  Please consider volunteering for this ministry.

YOUTH MINISTRY:  Designed for youth in grades 6th-12th.  A program that includes opportunities for service, classroom experiences, youth fellowship gatherings, spiritual and moral development, and weekend retreats.
